Welcome to St Agnes' Catholic Primary School Highett. We are extremely proud of our wonderful primary school which serves our local community. Not only do we offer outstanding educational opportunities for our 209 Foundation - Year 6 students but we pride ourselves on building a vibrant close knit community with our faith based on the model of Jesus.

St Agnes’ Catholic Primary School is located in the residential area of Highett. We take pride in the students and guide them on their journey of faith and learning. The school facilities at St Agnes’ enhance learning opportunities and the staff and school community are supportive and welcoming.

St Agnes’ Students

Students are the focus of our school. They take a very active part in school life. We presently have 209 students organised into two straight Foundation classes and eight composite classes. They engage themselves extremely well in their learning and extra curricula activities. Our children enjoy enquiry learning and are eager to present their work through their class workbooks, digital portfolios, gallery viewing and assemblies.

Background

St Agnes’ Catholic Primary school is located in the south-eastern metropolitan area of Melbourne in the suburb of Highett within the Bayside City Council. The enclosed site includes the school, the playing areas and the church. The area surrounding the school is mainly residential. The Highett Road shopping centre is 1.2 kilometres from the school. St Agnes’ Catholic Primary school was registered in 1951. Over the years the school has undertaken extensive refurbishments to meet contemporary teaching and learning needs.

School Facilities

The school has a main building housing seven classrooms, an administration block, a new building containing three classrooms, a recently renovated school hall and a multi-purpose area which houses our library and our Visual Arts area. All classrooms have interactive whiteboards and computers. The school hall is used by students, staff and our parent community. Playground facilities include an asphalted playing area

, two adventure playgrounds and a concrete multi-purpose area. There are two synthetic turf playing areas within

 the school. At St Agnes’, we believe in environmental sustainability and have implemented many initiatives such as waste reduction, solar panels, water harnessing and an environmental sustainability area.

Staff

Our staff are extremely dedicated and committed to education and the care of our children. Our specialist teachers include Physical Education, Performing Arts, Italian and Visual Arts. Instrumental lessons are offered for students in years two to six. Our school Leadership Team is committed to continuous improvement.

Community

St Agnes’ has a strong, supportive and welcoming community. Being a small school, we know your child by name. Parents are very active in supporting special school events and fundraising. Many parents assist in the classrooms. The school has excellent support from the Education Board and Parents and Friends Association. A parent coordinates the uniform shop and working bees held each term promote our sense of community.
